JAKARTA - The demand for worldwide steel is estimated continues to rise until 2012, although the consumption was decrease due to the impact of earthquake and devastating tsunami in Japan some time ago.
Global steel consumption this year is projected to reach 1.36 billion tons, up from last year about 1.26 billion tons. Next year, the consumption of prime manufacturing raw materials and infrastructure sectors is predicted to reach 1.44 billion tons.
However, steel producers are now haunted by the slowdown in world economic growth and price hikes of raw materials that make the demand for their products depressed.
